Day Trip from Marrakech to Ouzoud Waterfalls: Explore Morocco’s Highest Falls

- Overview of the Day Trip from Marrakech to Ouzoud Waterfalls
The Ouzoud Waterfalls (110 m high) are located near the village of Tanaghmeilt, in the province of Azilal, 150 km from Marrakech, making it one of the best day trips from Marrakech. Ouzoud means “the act of grinding grain” in Berber. The bottom of the falls is accessible through a shaded path of olive trees. At the summit of the falls, there are a dozen old small mills that are still in use. You can also follow a narrow and difficult trail that leads to the road of Beni Mellal. When descending the gorges of the wadi el-Abid in a canyon, sometimes the background is not distinguishable—it is almost 600 meters down. It is the most visited natural site in Morocco. In the surroundings, there are green valleys, mills, orchards, and magnificent gorges of the river, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Many local and national associations run projects to protect and preserve this breathtaking natural wonder of Morocco.
Through this guided day trip to Ouzoud Waterfalls from Marrakech, which takes around 3 hours of driving, you will have the chance to explore the highest waterfalls in Morocco, trek around the falls, and ride traditional local boats to get to the water’s eye. You will also come across wild Barbary monkeys on your way down to the river—they are very friendly, and you can even feed them. After enjoying a delicious lunch by the river, we will drive back to Marrakech and drop you off at your accommodation.
