3 Days Desert tour Fes to Marrakech

Day 1 : Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga :

Your Moroccan Sahara adventure begins in Fes, as we travel south toward the spectacular desert landscapes of Merzouga, passing through the Middle Atlas Mountains and some of Morocco’s most scenic countryside.

Our first stop is Ifrane, a charming mountain city known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Take some time to admire its distinctive architecture and beautiful alpine surroundings before continuing toward the Middle Atlas.

We then travel through the famous Cedar Forest, home to some of Morocco’s oldest and largest cedar trees. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to see the Barbary macaques living among the trees.

Continuing toward Midelt, the scenery gradually changes as the green mountain landscapes give way to rugged, arid terrain. After lunch in Midelt, we continue our journey toward Errachidia and the spectacular Ziz Valley.

Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views as we descend through the valley, with its dramatic gorges, palm-filled oases, and traditional Berber villages. Along the way, we pass through Erfoud, famous for its fossils and locally produced dates.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes.

 Camel Trek & Sahara Sunset

As the sun begins to set, climb aboard your camel and embark on an unforgettable trek across the golden Sahara dunes. Ride into the heart of the desert while watching the colors of the landscape change beneath the setting sun.

Arrive at your traditional desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner and an evening of authentic desert entertainment around the campfire.

Relax beneath the breathtaking Sahara night sky, surrounded by the peaceful silence of the dunes.

Day 2 : Sahara Desert – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley :

 Your day begins early in the Sahara, wake up before sunrise to witness one of the most spectacular moments of your desert adventure. Watch as the first rays of sunlight illuminate the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, creating a breathtaking display of colors and shadows across the desert.

After sunrise, enjoy a peaceful camel trek back to your riad, taking in the ever-changing beauty of the Erg Chebbi dunes as the morning light transforms the landscape.

After a delicious breakfast and a refreshing hot shower, we continue our journey toward Rissani, a historic town with deep connections to the origins of Morocco’s Alaouite dynasty, the country’s current royal dynasty. Rissani is also renowned for its traditional souk and rich cultural heritage.

From Rissani, we continue toward Tinghir and the spectacular Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most impressive natural attractions. The gorge is famous for its towering limestone cliffs and narrow canyon, offering breathtaking scenery and excellent opportunities for walking and hiking through the valley.

Discover the Dades Valley

Our journey continues through the scenic Dades Valley, renowned for its dramatic landscapes, ancient kasbahs, lush oases, and fascinating geological formations. Along the way, you’ll discover the impressive rock formations famously known as “Monkey Toes,” shaped naturally over thousands of years.

As the day comes to an end, settle into a charming riad or traditional guesthouse in the heart of the Dades Gorge. Relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings after another memorable day exploring southern Morocco.

Day 3 : Dades Valley – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Marrakech 

After breakfast, we depart the Dades Valley and continue our journey toward Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate, traveling along the famous “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.”

This spectacular route winds through dramatic mountain scenery, lush valleys, ancient villages, and traditional kasbahs, offering countless opportunities to stop, admire the scenery, and capture some of the most memorable photographs of your Moroccan adventure.

 Kalaat Mgouna – The Rose Valley

Our first stop is Kalaat Mgouna, often known as the “Rose City” and famous for its beautiful rose-growing region. Take the opportunity to discover local rose products, including the region’s renowned rosewater, a traditional Moroccan product widely used in cosmetics and perfumes.

 Ouarzazate – The Gateway to the Sahara

We then continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa” because of its long association with international film productions.

From Ouarzazate, we continue toward the spectacular Ait Ben Haddou, where we’ll stop for lunch and explore this remarkable historic ksar.

 Ait Ben Haddou – UNESCO World Heritage Site

Ait Ben Haddou is one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This beautifully preserved fortified village is renowned for its traditional earthen architecture and has served as a backdrop for numerous international film and television productions, including Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator.

Take a walk through its narrow streets, admire the historic architecture, and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

 Crossing the High Atlas Mountains

After visiting Ait Ben Haddou, our journey continues toward Marrakech across the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, reaching an altitude of approximately 2,260 metres.

Finally, we descend from the High Atlas toward the vibrant city of Marrakech, where your unforgettable 3-day Fes to Merzouga desert tour comes to an end.
