-Itinerary of the Marrakech to Fes desert tour 3 Day
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate –Dades:
We will depart at 8 am from Marrakesh to Dades Valley. We drive via the High Atlas mountains Tizi n’Tichka pass – the high Atlas mountains. We will have time to enjoy impressive landscapes and Berber hamlets, also we will enjoy breaks for coffee or mint tea in nice area. In the afternoon we will get the chance to visit the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah (as it has been named by UNESCO). This Berber Kasbah which is very important place for international filmmakers (more than 20 films was shot here). It was also one of the most important fortress strongholds on the old Salt Road where caravans brought slaves, gold, ivory and salt. Then we’ll pass through city of Ouarzazate,which is called Hollywood of Africa. After Ouarzazate we will continue to Dades Valley, trough the megoun, Skoura and we will spend the night in Dades Valley at a hotel with dinner and breakfast.
Day 2: Todra Gorge – sahara -Camel ride – Night in desert:
After breakfast, we will leave Dades Valley and we go towards Todgha Gorges (one of the most wonderful and impressive canyons in Morocco). Here we spend lunch and then we head towards Merzouga through beautiful landscapes and along many oases of palm grooves. We pass Erfoud (the capital of fossils), which is very known with its fossil’s factories. Then we will drive to the Erg Chebbi sand sea. We will continue deeper into the desert, until dunes appear in the middle of nowhere. Once we arrive to our hotel/Riad you will meet your camel guide and we will ride the camels into the desert bivouac (camping site with Berber tents). Here we stay under stars (shining brilliantly with stars and the moon in the clear night sky full of calm). Its totally safe to climb the dunes and watch the stars before going to sleep.
Day 3: sahara desert – Ziz valley – Midelt – Fes
After an early wake up, we will watch desert sunrise, have breakfast then we ride the camels back to Merzouga village. after that we will continue our tour to city of Fes. We will make some stops to enjoy tea with a nomadic family before we pass through the High Atlas Mountains. We will stop in the small city of Midelt where we’ll have lunch(town famous because of its minerals). This town is a very impressive mountain city at 1488 meters of altitude, well situated lower down the Jbel Ayachi (3737 m). After having lunch, we will drive within fascinating Middle Atlas Mountains till we reach the largest ceder forest of Azrou, where we will have a chance to see a unique Barbarain Apes. Around 30 minutes we will get to Ifrane known as Switerland of Morocco from here we continue to the city of Fes where our 3 Days from Marrakech to Fes will be ended.
